Fitment Notes:

Technical Notes:

If we could recommend an intake system for the 1.5L Turbo Civic Platform it would our Cobra Cold Air Intake System. However, for customers that do not wish to run a CAI, our Short Ram Intake System is also an option. Our CNC machined billet aluminum MAF Housing was designed to provide *factory-spec fuel trims (-4% of factory STFT & LTFT) for optimal drivability and performance. This SRI utilizes a 4" air filter and is available with two different MAF housing choices; a Street housing and a Race housing. Both housings utilizes the factory MAF sensor, but feature two different diameters and profiles. As mentioned above, the Street housing is designed to provide factory-spec fuel trims WITHOUT any tuning whatsoever. The Race housing allows a 50% larger volume of air in comparison to the Street housing, which is why a tune IS required. This larger volume of airflow reduces pumping loss and creates an unrestricted air path to feed the MAF housing with ambient temperature air.

Customers can switch between MAF housings without having to buy another intake system by purchasing our MAF Housing Conversion Kit

Customers can convert to a Cold Air Intake with our Cold Air Intake Conversion Kit

Performance Gains:

  • 15 horsepower and 12 ft/lb torque gains in comparison to stock with Street MAF housing WITHOUT TUNE
  • 20 horsepower and 15 ft/lb torque gains in comparison to stock with Race MAF housing WITH Race MAF basemap calibration on Hondata and/or KTuner
  • Larger gains to be seen at higher power levels with custom tuning
Please note that short ram intakes are extremely sensitive to heat-soak with this chassis (which is why we recommend our CAI). Performance gains will lessen as the engine and intake begins to heat-soak.

Notice how consistent and similar all of the LTFT graphs are. Each graph is within -4 LTFT.

Love it, Highly Recommend
James Bragg (Guyton, GA) 7/7/2019 9:01 AM
Great sound and everything bolts up perfectly as designed. I live in South GA and the heat/humidity was a factor so I ended up going with the CAI conversion kit. Nothing but good things to say about PRL and they have always included a few merchandise freebies!! Will purchase from again and happily advertise with the vinyl.

Easy install, good sound.
Pedro Leal (Fort Washington, PA) 1/8/2019 11:14 AM
The hardest part of the install was figuring out the air-box is in two parts, so after unbolting the top half, just tug on it and it comes out. This will make it easier to take out the bottom box. PS the final bolt that holds it in is accessible from the bottom of the car without needing to lift it. Sound starts to be noticeable around 2800rpm and until you take your foot off the gas and you hear some great turbo sound. Getting a tiny more low end pull, but no improvement to the top end. I also think it's a little worse on fuel economy, maybe the car hasn't learned the ratio yet, but it's still worth buying and installing yourself.

Great sound and easy install
John (MD) 10/13/2018 12:00 PM
This is one of the easier intakes to install. The hardest part was getting the stock air box out. Once it's done and you're on the road the sound is very noticeable and slightly better midrange pull. Only thing I would add to the kit is install instructions for someone not mechanically inclined.

Incredible!
Al Mezle (NJ) 2/7/2018 11:10 AM
Bloody knuckles. That OEM air box was a whore to get out. PRL claims 9 to 14 hp. And I believe it to be on the higher end. Spinning the tires harder in 2nd gear than ever before. I had no idea I'd be this impressed. I would have ordered it a month ago when it was released. It looks bad ass. And it sounds awesome! I'm so happy.
