At PRL Motorsports, performance has always gone hand-in-hand with responsibility.
Recently, we gave you an inside look at our rigorous emissions testing process and how we work with facilities like the SEMA Garage to ensure our products meet EPA and CARB standards. Now, we’re excited to share an update on the parts that have officially passed the test and received emissions certification.
These approvals are more than just paperwork—they’re your green light for building reliable, high-performing cars that are street legal.
What is SEMA Certification?
The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) certification process involves in-depth emissions testing using advanced dynamometers and real-world driving simulations. Through their Detroit-based SEMA Garage, we're able to test our products to confirm they do not adversely impact vehicle emissions or onboard diagnostics (OBD) systems.
The following PRL products have received SEMA Certified Emissions (SC-E) approval:
-
2023 Honda Civic Type-R Carbon Fiber High Volume Intake System – Gloss Finish
-
2023 Honda Civic Type-R Carbon Fiber High Volume Intake System – Matte Finish
-
2017–2021 Honda Civic Type-R Silicone Intake Hose Kit (Black)
-
2017–2021 Honda Civic Type-R High Volume Intake System (Standard Bore MAF Housing)
These products now carry SEMA SC-E numbers, meaning they’re officially recognized as emissions-compliant in 49 states when installed according to our guidelines.
What is a CARB Executive Order (EO)?
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) is the gold standard of emissions compliance. Products that receive a CARB EO have undergone rigorous emissions testing and are legal for use on public roads in all 50 states—including California, where emissions laws are the strictest.
We’re proud to announce the following PRL products now carry a CARB EO:
-
2016–2021 Honda Civic 1.5T (Non-Si) Cold Air Intake System – Standard Bore
-
2017–2021 Honda Civic 1.5T (Si) Cold Air Intake System – Standard Bore
These EO numbers will be included in packaging and documentation, giving you peace of mind when modifying your vehicle in emissions-restricted areas.
