Helical Air / Oil Separator Product Development - Refining the Design
You may notice that the visual design of our catch can looks much different than it did in the previous blog post. This is because we have decided to switch manufacturing techniques to help expedite the production timeline and allow us to bring more production in-house. We redesigned the canister body to be billet 6061 aluminum, as well as accept a separate billet helix center section with an integrated spiral baffle plate. This design change, however, wasn’t just to offer more billet bling (although it does that pretty effectively now), the functionality has also been improved. Due to the divorced helix, as opposed to integrated with the previous design, we will have clearance between the edge of the helix and the interior walls of the can. This means that excess oil vapor, in addition to collecting on and running down the helix, now has the ability to sling outwards, collect on the walls, and drip down to the baffle plate. This maximizes the amount of oil separated from the intake air. We also added some slick external helical profiling and knurling on the out side of the can for aesthetics and function.

It is important to understand how the oiling and sealing system works to help properly diagnose turbocharger or engine related issues. PRL Motorsports Introduces New Line of Motor Mounts
We know what you're thinking, but you're right. This is exactly what the community needs. Our motor mounts will utilize press-fit EPDM bushings, unlike most other aftermarket mounts on the market. EPDM is the perfect bushing material because of its high resistance to outside atmospheric elements (heat, ozone, weather), chemicals, solvents, abrasives, tearing and vibration. Because EPDM has a higher density than urethane, this means we are able to use a softer/lower durometer bushing to keep engine vibration to a minimum, all while improving rigidity in comparison to the factory mount(s). Unlike urethane bushing inserts, EPDM bushings will not mushroom, wallow out or breakdown over time with use.

2022+ Honda Civic 1.5T High Volume Intake System Development: Part 1
No, we didn't forget about you - this intake has actually been our highest priority since the release of the 11th Gen Civic 1.5L Turbo, despite keeping it under wraps for such a long period of time. Here's a first look at our Patent Pending HVI 3D printed prototype for the 11th Gen 1.5T.
Given the reputation and successes of our previous intake systems, our engineers already knew they had to hit a homerun with this intake system. During initial 3D scanning and inspection, we collected and analyzed more data than ever before in an effort to make the best intake system possible.

N1 Exhaust System Development for the 11th Gen Civic: Part 1
Here is a first official look at our N1 Exhaust System on the 2022 Civic Si. We wanted to be able to offer an affordable solution for the end consumer, while still being able to provide a unique look and sound. This N1-style system utilizes a single-exit exhaust to keep components, costs and weight down. We also wanted to make sure that this exhaust sounded as it looks, all while eliminating that nasty drone some exhaust systems tend to have. Our engineers paid close attention to tubing lengths, bends, placement and length of mufflers/resonators. All of these factors play a critical roll in exhaust tone and the elimination of drone. After carful consideration, revisions and testing, we have put together an exhaust system that we are ready to showoff. (Please note that the exhaust tip length will change a bit to extend a bit to reduce bumper damage and improve aesthetics).

Our team is constantly thinking of ways to improve and add more flavor to the PRL Motorsports product line. Over the years we have received an overwhelming amount of inquiries regarding exhaust system development, but unfortunately were not able to take on this workload in the past. Now that our team has expanded and production has continued to streamline, we are able to begin looking into the manufacturing of exhaust systems, starting with the 11th Gen Civic platform. After scanning both the Si and Non-Si models' exhaust systems, our Product Development Team has started discussing some pretty neat concepts - we will be taking a look at the 2.0L exhaust system as well. In past years we have specialized in inclusive turbocharger kits for a variety of reasons, mainly due to the fact small-frame turbochargers limit extreme peak-power goals for the ultimate record-hungry enthusiast. However, with more manufacturers normalizing low-revving, small displacement, direct-injection engines with integrated exhaust manifolds, these once feasible goals are becoming increasingly harder to reach. Instead, we will be using all of the data and experience we've learned over the years and shifting focus towards a drop-in upgrade in an effort to develop a turbo that appeals to the masses. Yes, we will be using our experiences with the P600 and other drop-ins as a starting point. Yes, we understand longevity and reliability is critical. 2021 Acura TLX Type-S Silicone Intake Hose Kit & Stage 1 Intake Development
This kit replaces the corrugated factory inlet hose with our better looking, smoother flowing 4-ply silicone hose. The pleats found in the factory hose disrupts air flow, which limits power potential and throttle response. This hose will be available by itself (with clamps and hardware as a kit), or available with our air filter as a full Stage 1 Intake System. Stay tuned for more updates to come!

2021 Acura TLX Type-S Charge Pipe Upgrade Development
Our kit will utilize a 3" OD cold side hard pipe with integrated methanol injection bung to replace the factory ~2.4" ID rubber hose to increase airflow and engine bay aesthetics. The kit will come standard with a factory diameter hot-side hose upgrade to maintain velocity and turbocharger spool. All supplied hoses are constructed of multi-ply high temperature silicone to increase durability and are "stepped" to promote smooth, laminar airflow. This kit also eliminates the factory charge pipe resonator, which increases audible turbocharger noise. Stay tuned for more updates!

Baseline Dyno Testing Our 11th Gen Honda Civic Si
Right off the bat, we can see that the 11th Gen is making considerably more peak horsepower. At peak horsepower, we are seeing a maximum difference of 19WHP and 20WTQ. This is due to Honda’s utilization of a twin scroll turbo (this term can be used loosely, we'll discuss this at a later date), dual port head, and the current generation having VTEC on the intake and exhaust side, which allows the head to flow much better at high rpm. This is also demonstrated by the horsepower and torque bump at peak boost, around 4200 RPM, whereas the 10th Gen torque curve begins to dramatically fall off as RPM increases.

We're ecstatic to see what the 11th Gen Civic platform is capable of. And yes, for those wondering all of our 11th Gen products such as the Resonator Delete Kit, Heritage Strut Bar, intercooler, charge pipe, downpipe, front pipe, Stage 1 Intake (silicone hose and panel filter) and flex fuel kit (once flex fuel tuning support is available for the Si) previously developed on our 2022 Civic EX 1.5T are also compatible with the Si Model.
