PRL Motorsports Enters the Truck Arena: F-150 Performance is Just the Beginning

For over a decade, PRL Motorsports has been synonymous with performance in the Honda and Acura world—whether it’s high-efficiency intakes, turbo inlets, intercoolers, or complete induction solutions. But now, after years of designing for the sport compact segment, we’re ready to bring that same passion for engineering, precision, and power to a new frontier:

The American truck market.

That’s right. PRL is officially expanding into the world of trucks, starting with the Ford F-150 platform. From 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost-powered workhorses to the high-output Raptor, we’re bringing our performance mindset and manufacturing capability to one of the most legendary pickup lines in the world.

Why the F-150? Why Now?

The Ford F-150 isn’t just the best-selling truck in America, it’s one of the most modified platforms on the road today. With its factory turbocharged engines, massive tuning potential, and enthusiast-driven community, it was only a matter of time before we threw our hat into the ring.

We saw the opportunity to take what we’ve learned from building ultra-efficient, dyno-tested, emissions-conscious parts for Hondas and apply it to a segment that’s often underserved when it comes to precision-engineered performance components. This isn’t about slapping a name on a universal part. This is about designing from scratch, with data, testing, and purpose.

What’s in Development

We’re kicking things off with two cornerstone products for the 2015–2024 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost F-150s (including Raptor trims):

  • A High Volume Intake System: Featuring massive 4” diameter tubes for each turbo, seamless bell mouth filter integration, and an airbox so large it can practically swallow the OEM one. Built to breathe freely and built to seal tightly, this system is engineered for top-end flow, throttle response, and visual appeal in the engine bay.
  • A Bar & Plate Intercooler Assembly: With cast 6061 aluminum end tanks, custom fin densities, and support for stock bypass valves and shutters. Whether you're towing or off-roading, this intercooler is designed to cool harder and stay cooler longer.

And this is just the beginning.

What to Expect in the Months Ahead

We’ll be breaking down each component in detail—what went into the design, how it compares to stock, and why it matters for drivers. We’ll also be pulling back the curtain on testing procedures, performance data, towing tests, and more.

But beyond these two initial products, we’re already looking ahead. We recently wrapped dyno testing for a new High Volume Intake System for the 5.0L V8 F-150, and the early results have us excited. While it’s still in development, we’re currently working on finalizing the sample and test fitting the tubing that runs from the filters to the throttle body. But once that’s locked in, this intake will be next in line!

A New Chapter Begins

Whether you’re a longtime PRL supporter or a new truck enthusiast just hearing our name for the first time, welcome. We’re excited to bring the PRL DNA into this space, and we’re even more excited to show you what’s coming.

Stay tuned for Part 2, where we take a deeper dive into the F-150 High Volume Intake System and what it means for performance at every RPM.
